Imphal, July 12, 2013:
The re-affirmation of the State Cabinet to develop Royal Palace (Sana Konung) is welcomed.
However, the decision to shift the King from his palace and arrange another place for his stay cannot be accepted under any circumstances, Sana Konung Semgat Lup has reiterated.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the continuing sit-in protest staged against the decision of the State Cabinet to take over Sana Konung at Palace Compound here today, Pukhrihongbam Araba, Secretary, Sana Konung Semgat Lup, stated that the protest agitation launched against the decision of the State Cabinet to take over Sana Konung has been going on for the last 20 days.
All people from near and wide and even small children have now come to realize the importance of the Royal Palace and the King of the State and the relation it has with the society.
He further stated that when even a child understands the importance of the Royal Palace and the King, it is very unfortunate that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet Ministers have failed to understand its value.
Araba also pointed out that the King performs the customary rights and rituals in the Sana Konung everyday.
The performing of the rituals is not to have any personal gains but for the welfare of the State and its people.
"Even today, all customary rights and rituals performed anywhere by the Amaibas and Amaibis is done after taking prior permission of the King", Araba added.
