Imphal, July 12, 2013:
The non-Congress political parties of the State have re-affirmed their decision to bring out common candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Informing this to media persons, M Tombi, President of State JD (U) unit, stated that a meeting of non-Congress political parties was held yesterday and it unanimously resolved to stick to the earlier decision of bringing out common candidates in the Lok Sabha election.
The common candidate for the Inner Parliamentary constituency is all set and the process for finalizing another common candidate for the Outer Parliamentary Constituency is already underway, he disclosed.
Tombi further stated that the non-Congress political parties are also all set to launch agitation to highlight the various issues prevailing in the State.
The act of the State Government in dismantling the Cold Storage building which used to store fruits and vegetables is very unfortunate.
It would be very useful to the State if the Cold Storage building is repaired and made functional for storing fruits and vegetables for use during non-season.
It could also earn huge income for the State.
As such, the non-Congress political parties demand immediate repairing of the Cold Storage building instead of dismantling it.
He also pointed out the pathetic condition of the drainage system in the heart of Imphal which remains overflowing following slightest rainfall and said that the Government should be serious in this regard and do the needful in the interest of the people.
