Rajeev Bakshi football tourney from January 16

Imphal, January 13 2023:
Churachandpur Battalion Assam Rifles of IGAR (South) in collaboration with Hmar Trophy Organising Board, Parbung will be organising 17th Rajeev Bakshi Memorial Football Tournament from January 16 to 20 at Parbung.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) stated that the tournament is being organised since 2007 in the honour of lieutenant colonel Rajeev Bakshi of Dogra Regiment, also fondly remembered as 'Tiger of Tipaimukh', who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting insurgents on January 20, 2006 at Parbung, Pherzawl district.
Due to countrywide Covid restrictions, the tournament was conducted at a reduced scale for the last three years, however, this year the tourney is going to be held in a grand manner wherein a total of 16 teams including six from Mizoram and 10 teams of Manipur will be participating, it added.
The release also informed that the matches will be played in league format with Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 cash awards for winners and runners up respectively.
Apart from this, individual awards are also being instituted for Top Scorer, Best Keeper & Best Player.
