Protest by DMU students : Education Department cautions 'Instigators'

The Department of Higher and Technical Education has said that anyone found instigating students to take up agitation and disrupting the academic atmosphere will be viewed seriously.
A press release issued by Deputy Secretary of the department Darya Juli Anal said that they welcome all positive suggestions for the development of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) but those found disrupting the academic atmosphere will be viewed seriously.
It may be mentioned that hundreds of students of GP Women College tried to storm the Chief Minister's Secretariat yesterday demanding upgrading DMU to a full-fledged varsity yesterday.
Saying that DMU is autonomous in its day to day administrative functioning, Darya Juli claimed that raising any grievances against the Government in a public platform should only be an issue when the Government fails to act.
Recruitment of 88 posts of Assistant Professors and 170 non teaching posts of DMU is under process and is expected to be declared soon, the Deputy Secretary said and added that the Department of Higher and Technical Education has fulfilled all its responsibilities since the formation of the new Government.
The release claimed that various infrastructure developments have been taken up under RUSA and the same were inaugurated on January 6, 2023.The DMU authority is responsible for sending application for getting 12B recognition of the UGC Act 1956 and the Education Minister and the department have no role in it, Darya Juli said and added that the department has notified the operational guidelines for employees related issue after bifurcation from Directorate of University and Higher Education to DMU.
The Deputy Secretary also said that 362 posts of teachers have been bifurcated to DMU as per the Cabinet decision taken on November 21, 2022 while the process of bifurcation of non teaching posts including Principals is under process.
