Moirangthem Inao conferred Brojendro Award-2023

Writers' Forum, Imphal conferred the 6th Khundongbam Brojendro Ninghing Mana-2023 to noted Shumang Leela playwright and radio dramatist Moirangthem Inao.
The award carrying Rs 30,000 cash, citation and shawl was presented to Moirangthem Inao in a function held JN Manipur Dance Academy, here, on Friday.
Moirangthem Inao was born on October 11, 1945 as the youngest of seven siblings to Moirangthem Tondon and Rajkumari Raminisana and he completed graduation from DM College.
From a young age, Inao was fond of reading and writing.
His short play titled 'Ah-ing Ama' broadcast on Naharolgee Thouram of All India Radio, Imphal in 1978 was very popular among the listeners.
In the same year, his famous play 'Chatledo Eidi Thamoinungda Meigee Ching Puduna' was aired on AIR Imphal further enhancing his profile as a multi-faceted writer.
Professor IS Kangjam, who attended the award presentation ceremony as chief guest, said that Writers' Forum is able to present Khundongbam Brojendro Ninghing Mana since the year 2008 after noted playwright's family donated a huge sum of money.
He also expressed happiness over conferring this year's award on Inao.
In his speech, Writers' Forum president Keisham Priyokumar said that it is yet to get any fund from the government but continues to run the office with profit collected from books published with contributions from writers and some other sources.
The Forum is facing financial problem and require money for organising functions.
However, late Brojendro's family donated huge sum of money for award presentation ceremony, he said and thanked the family.
Before presenting the award, a symposium on 'Khundongbam Brojendrogee Leelada Nongkningba Ehul' with Forum vice president Irungbam Basanta in the chair was held during which Dr Athokpam Kholchandra shared his thoughts on the theme as the main speaker.
