Free children heart surgery camp at Sky in April

A two-week children heart surgery camp will be organised at Sky Hospital from April 16 next.
The camp, which will be the biggest ever held in the northeast region, will be organised under the joint aegis of William Novick Global Cardiac Alliance USA, Manipur Heart Foundation and Sky Hospital Research Centre and has set the target to cater to around 26 children.
In an online press conference held via zoom on Friday at the RIMS road premises of Sky Hospital, William Novick founder CEO cum medical director Dr William Novick, informed that a 14-member team of experts led by him will be in Imphal to conduct the heart surgery camp.
Stating that it will be the fifth visit of the team in India, he recounted that during the previous visits altogether 9965 children were successfully operated for heart ailments in different medical institutions of India.
While stating that the camp is targeting to provide free surgery to around 26 children from the state, Dr William informed that all the children irrespective of their age and weight will be eligible to take part in the camp.
According to Sky Hospital chairman Dr L Shyamkishore, who was also present during the press briefing, to save the life of those children who have been born with defect heart parents should immediately consult a medical practitioner at the slightest suspicion or symptoms of heart problem in their children.
While informing that only physical registration will be entertained for the upcoming camp effective from January 16, Dr Shyamkishore said that the priority will be given to early arrivals and from BPL families.
