Manipur trail Assam by 289 runs on Day 2 of Col CK Nayudu Trophy

Manipur trailed Assam by 289 runs after the state team made 165/6 at stumps on the second day of their Col CK Nayudu Trophy match at Tinsukia District Sports Association Ground, Assam.
Responding to Assam's first innings total of 454 runs (all out), Manipur made a stumbling start to their first innings on Monday when their openers Santosh Kh (14) and Suresh Singh (0) got dismissed in 26 balls, before Al Bashid steadied the ship as his fine knock of 91 off 157 balls and Th Anand's unbeaten 37 off 148 balls helped the state cross 160 mark.
Jay Singh (3) and Rakesh A (1) were other run-getters.
Dipjyoti Saikia and Amlanjyoti Das picked up two wickets each for Assam, with Abdul Ajij Kuraishi and Ishan Ahmed accounting for one apiece.
In their first innings, Parvej Musaraf (131), Saahil Jain (77), Erik Roy (60), Amlanjyoti Das (46), Nibir Deka (44) and Rituraj Biswas (29) were key run-getters for the hosts.
For Manipur, Santosh K and Kiran Laishram claimed four scalps each while Suraj Kharibam and Bidash took one each.
