State Cong pays tribute to Gandhi, 'joins' BJY

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 75th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Congress Bhawan, BT Road, here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, MPCC working president Manga Vaiphei remarked that Monday was an important day for Congress, as the Bharat Jodo Yatra campaign launched by Rahul Gandhi in 2022 from Kanyakumari culminated in Srinagar.
As such, MPCC president K Meghachandra, CLP leader O Ibobi and CWC member Gaikhangam will be attending the closing function.
At the district and block levels, the Indian flag will be hoisted along with observance of the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.
As part of the closing function, Manga Vaiphei hoisted the tricolour flag, just as Rahul Gandhi hoisted the flag in Srinagar.
Later, floral tributes were offered to the portrait and bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
Sugnu AC MLA K Ranjit, Khundrakpam AC MLA Th Lokeshwar and MPCC general secretary and other party leaders also attended the function.
To mark the culmination of the Bharat Jodo Yatra (BJY) undertaken by Congress leaders including Ra hul Gandhi, Churachandpur District Congress Committee also organised a flag hoisting ceremony at the party's district office, here at 10:30 am Monday.
District Congress president T Chongbiak unfurled the National flag in the presence of party leaders and workers.
In Kakching district, the Concluding function of the Bharat Jodo Yatra that began from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and covered different parts of the country was organised jointly by District Congress Committee, Kakching and Block Congress Committee Kakching at DCC/ BCC Kakching office located at Kakching Bazar on Monday.
The function was attended by MPCC secretary and PCC member Kshetrimayum Kennedy, Kakching DCC president A Rahaman Cheishaba, BCC (Kakching) president Nongmaithem Ashok and secretary Leishangthem Brojen, Hiyanglam BCC president Elangbam Iboyaima and Kakching Municipal Council former chairperson Moirangthem Inakhunbi among others.
During the function, the party's flag was hoisted by Kshetrimayum Kennedy followed by a discussion session on Bharat Jodo Yatra.
