Ukhrul, January 30 2023:
Apex Tangkhul customary body , Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has strongly condemned the recent bomb blast that occured at Ukhrul and stated that it was a direct attack on the civilian populace in the district.
Briefing the Ukhrul media, TNL vice president RS Jollyson stated that the Tangkhul don't accept bomb culture.
The proscribed organisation (PREPAK) in their attempt to show resentment to the Government should not hurt the sentiment of the people or disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Ukhrul, RS Jollyson said.
He reminded PREPAK that the "Nagas have nothing to do with the Merger Agreement signed in 1949 between Maharaja of Manipur and the then Governor General of India" .
Jollyson went on to mention that the Naga was 'never' a part of India either by conquest or consent.
"We Nagas have been demanding our right for self determination for the past 7 decades," RS Jollyson said.
The TNL vice president then urged the State Government to install CCTV cameras at the earliest from Dungrei junction Hungpung to Kharasom junction Hunphun, Ukhrul.
Sufficient police personnel should be deployed to prevent unwanted incidents in the coming future and the victims of such incidents should be given adequate compensation, RS Jollyson said, urging the authorities concerned to investigate and arrest the perpetrators responsible for the blast at the earliest.
