Imphal, February 14 2023:
Rajkumar Rex Singh's heroics with bat and ball guided PTRC (Patsoi) to a three-wicket win over REYS (Nagamapal) in Tuesday's action of the MNCA Elite Tournament.
REYS were restricted to 176/9 after opting to bat first.
Batting at 3, Md Basir Rahman (65) was a headache for the PTRC's bowling until his removal by Rex Singh triggered a collapse of REYS' batting lineup.
Naoshekpam Manglemba Meetei (25), Nanao Laishram (21), Sougrakpam Shangkar (19), Sapam Bikash (18 not out) and Laishram Daniel (12) were other contributors in their innings.
In addition to his scalp of Basir, Rex picked up two wickets.
His fellow Gemson Mutum was equally impressive with three wickets as Ngariyanbam Johnson and Bishworjit Konthoujam bagged one apiece.
PTRC then chased down the target in 37.3 overs with three wickets to spare.
In the chase, Rex was clearly the stand-out batter as he smashed a masterly unbeaten 96 to guide his team to victory, with contributions from Jotin Pheiroijam (19), Gemson Matum (17), Ngariyanbam Johnson (14), Loitongbam Shitaljit (6), Rohit Sharma Aribam (4 not out), Rabi Sahu (4) and Robinson Sougaijam (2) .
For REYS, Sapam Bikash snapped four wickets, Nanao Laishram took two and Shangkar got one.
Rajkumar Rex Singh was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round display of 96 (not out) and three wickets.
