Thoubal, February 14 2023:
Aspersions have been cast over the conduct of National Highway Infra-Structure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) which is taking up the construction work of the Imphal-Moreh transnational highways, on whether they have submitted provisional completion report for the road stretch from Lilong to Wangjing to the ministry even before the actual completion of the work.
The road stretch from Lilong to Wangjing, which is part of the transnational highways, is currently in progress though majority of the works have been completed.
According to a statement given by one Nongthombam Romesh of Kiyam Siphai on a local TV network, the construction work on the transnational highway has been left incomplete at different points in between Lilong to Wangjing.
The road divider openings in Lilong, Waithou, Kiyam Babu Bazar, Thoubal Bazar, Khangabok Bazar and Wangjing Bazar area have been done at inappropriate points.
The implementing agency (NHIDCL) has failed to put into action the points agreed between it and the public including construction of foot over bridge in congested areas, and drainage system on both sides of the road.
He also charged that the water pipe which has been left buried along the highway has not been mended despite the understanding while the permanent RCC culverts have been found replaced by temporary ring culverts.
In addition to all these unwanted works being carried out, the work has now been put on halt, which is very unfortunate and the authority concerned should look into the matter and do the needful at the earliest, Romesh urged.
