Governor, CM, others greet on Lui-Ngai-Ni festival

Governor La Ganesan, chief minister N Biren Singh, ministers and others have extended their warm and best wishes to the people of Manipur, especially the Naga community, on the occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival which falls on February 15 .
In his message, Governor La Ganesan said that Lui-Ngai-Ni is a composite festival of all the Nagas of Manipur celebrated every year on the February 15 for a bountiful and bumper harvest.
Blessings of the Almighty are sought on the occasion, the Governor said, adding that the festival has also come to be recognised as a Tourist Festival, occupying a unique position not only among the Nagas but also among other communities.
"The festival brings together different communities towards the goals of peace, harmony and humanism, irrespective of caste or religion," the Governor added.
"I am confident that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit and all will join in the festivities in a spirit of oneness", he said, while wishing the people peace and prosperity.
Sharing his observation, CM N Biren said that Lui-Ngai-Ni is celebrated on the 15th day of February every year amidst social gathering and rejoicing.
"Festivals through community events such as dances, songs, feasts and prayers teach us to share joy with one another.
Like all other cultural festivals, Lui-Ngai-Ni also strengthens the bond of oneness amongst the people," he said.
Pointing out that the festival is an opportunity for experiencing other cultures and appreciating diversity, N Biren said, "I tell all our people therefore, irrespective of religion, faith and community, to partake and spread joy and caring.
I am hopeful it will enable us to understand our roots better" .
On the other hand, through separate releases, ministers Awangbow Newmai, Th Basanta Kumar Singh and Nemcha Kipgen, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Satyabrata Singh and Manipur People's Party general secretary (media) Paonam Khaba stated that Lui-Ngai-Ni is the collective seed sowing festival of the Nagas which is celebrated towards the be ginning of the spring season with much zeal and ardour.
The celebration of Lui-Ngai-Ni festival means praying to god for good plantation and blessing for a bumper and bountiful harvest, they stated, while wishing for peace, harmony and prosperity among the diverse ethnic communities of the state.
All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) also extended warm greetings and best wishes to all the people of Manipur, especially the Nagas on this happy and auspicious occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni, 2023, to be celebrated under the theme "One Culture, One Destiny".
Lui-Ngai-Ni is a seed sowing festival of the Nagas celebrated on February 15 every year since 1988 and signifies peace, harmony and humanism for all.
This festival heralds the seed-sowing and marks the start of the year for the Nagas and the day is filled with merriment, the ANSAM said.
The Naga student body also wished that the festival brings peace, prosperity and harmony to one and all and promote peaceful co-existence in "our society through dialogue, understanding and unity" .
