MNCA Elite Tournament : Kh Santosh hits ton as PTRC crush REYS by 171 runs for second successive win

Imphal, April 25 2022:
Khangembam Santosh scored a ton as PTRC, Patsoi thumped REYS, Nagamapal by 171 runs for second straight win in the 6th MNCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament here at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.
After winning the toss, PTRC who had beaten Model Club by 104 runs in the tourney opener (Group A) piled up a massive total of 245 runs for 8 and bundled out REYS for 74 runs for another huge win in the 12 team tournament.

PTRC had a slow start and were down to 91-2 after losing Gemson Mutum (8 off 25 balls) and Loitongbam Shitaljit (19 off 25 balls) but Khangembam Santosh who hit a half century in the opening match kept the scoreboard ticking with the aid of Jotin Pheiroijam (28 off 20 balls) and Ngariyanbam Johnson (22) and contributed a run-a-ball 103 on the back of 12 boundaries (9 fours and 3 sixes) to hand PTRC a massive total.
Khwairakpam Rinku was unbeaten on 9-ball 18 along with Shapam Kenjit as the innings which saw Elangbam Joychandra (3/53) and Kiram Laishram (3/44) enjoying three wickets haul, came to an end.
Sapam Bikash of REYS also fetched a wicket in this innings before they crashed to a 171 run defeat as PTRC bowlers produced an impressive bowling display.
REYS batters had a torrid time right from the beginning and it had only 6 runs on the board when Kiran Laishram was bowled out by Jotin Singh Pheiroijam in the 5th delivery of the third over.
Shapam Kenjit then trapped Daniel Meitei for an lbw duck to reduce REYS to 7/2 after 3.5 overs before Kenjit undone Mintu Chandra for 7 to make it 20/3 for the Nagamapal side.
The woeful run for REYS continued and further slipped to 38/5 after 10 overs with Robertson edging to PTRC keeper Ngariyanbam Jameson behind the stump of Jotin's delivery in the 7th over and Bipinkumar edging to Jameson off Aribam Rohit Sharma's ball.
Aribam Rohit then bowled out Sjayanta for 17 to reduce REYS to 45-6 before Abit Hijam and Ngariyanbam Johnson rattled the tailenders and returned with two wicket hauls.
Khangembam Santosh who shone with his bat, was adjudged man of the match.
Al-Ameen will play CHAMP, Khagempalli in the next match tomorrow.
