2nd Women Drama Festival-2022 concludes

Imphal, April 25 2022:
The 2nd Women Drama Festival-2022, which was organised by Khenjonglang, Imphal in association with Manipur Cultural Council (MCC) from April 10, culminated at the auditorium of JN Manipur Dance Academy here on Monday.
Sponsored by Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, the valedictory function of the festival was attended by MCC president Kangjam Radhakumar as president, theatre artiste Heisnam Sabitri (Padmashree) as chief guest and Manipur State Kala Akademi awardee and theatre director Loitongbam Brajamohon as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Heisnam Sabitri observed that women directors were a rarity in the proscenium theatre movement of Manipur.
However, the scenario has changed for the better in present times, she remarked.
While commending Khenjonglang director Thanil Leima for organising the festival, Sabitri also urged all women directors to be pillars of support for each other, while adding that women directors also need to sincerely love and work for the propagation of this art form.
All the 10 women directors, who participated in the festival, also shared their experiences regarding production Of their respective plays.
Later, The Meetei Leimarol Art Performing Centre, Imphal presented their play, Nungoi Tengthakhol, which has been written by Yum nam Rajen and directed by Heikhrujam Nalini.
