Imphal, April 25 2022:
The MGNREGA Implementing Agency Committee has warned that they would impose an indefinite economic blockade on both Imphal-Jiribam highway and Imphal-Dimapur highway if the amount of Rs 230.20 crore already sanctioned by the Centre is not released by the State Government at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here this morning, MGNREGA Implementing Agency Committee executive member Hesho Lorho decried that even as the Central Government had released MGNREGA fund of Rs 230.20 crore for the financial years 2020-21 and 2021-22, the State Government has been holding back the same amount.
The matter was discussed with the Minister and the Commissioner concerned on April 11 but the meeting could not bring any positive result, Hesho Lorho further said.
As decided by the MGNREGA Implementing Agency Committee an indefinite economic blockade would be imposed on both Imphal-Jiribam highway and Imphal-Dimapur highway from the midnight of April 28 if the State Government does not release the pending amount of Rs 230.20 crore by April 27, he added.
