Manipur Police sports Club (MPSC) scripted a solitary goal victory over TRUGPU, nambol to claim the title of the 2nd Lamyanba Irawat Memorial invitation football Tournament at Eastern Shine Public ground on March 4.The championship winning goal was scored in the 11th minute by S Shanta who headed in a cross by Kanta.
The champions were awarded rs 50,000 and the runners-up Rs 30,000 by Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board Bijoy Koijam and former Minister DK Korungthang who were respectively the chief guest and functional president of the closing programme.
MPSC's Thangminlien was adjudged the tournament's best player with the best goalkeeper award going to SWYC, Moreh's Mimin and naoton of TRUGPU claiming the top scorer award, each carrying Rs 2000 each.
Dean of Central Agricultural University (Iroisemba) Prof N Iboton Singh; SP (Chandel) K Radhashyam; Addl SP Md Firoz Khan; Addl SP (Moreh) Y Ashokumar; former UCM president Konsam Langamba; Meetei Council Moreh president L Imobi Singh; Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh's acting president Md Hussain; Tamil Sangam general secretary S Ravichandran; AMFA president A Santosh Kumar; and joint secretary AMFA Jyotimoy Roy also graced the closing programme.
Donations of Rs 15,000 by Bijoy Koijam donated Rs 15,000; DK Korungthang Rs 5000; L Imobi Rs 30,000; and Rs 30,000 by the technical advisor/convenor sports Development Committee of MCM L Inaocha Meetei were also made to the tournament organisers.
