The three day long platinum jubilee celebration of the Apokpa Marup at Jaribon Laishramkhun, Hailakandi district of Assam state concluded on February 28 last.
Deputy director of Manipur State Archive K Sushila graced the concluding function of the platinum jubilee function which was presided over by member of the Ahal Taranithoi, Ningthemcha Birensana.
Presdient of the Meetei National Front, Chingsubam Wangambi Leima, editor of Hueiyen Lanpao, Meetei Mayek Edition, Meishnam Shivdutt Luwang, vice president of MEELAL Moirangthem Naokhgamba and convenor of Naoriya Phullo Charitable Trust, N Chaoba also attended as guests of honour of the function.
Speaking as chief guest, K Sushila said Manipur even though a small state has its own long history.
There has enough evidence to proof that book written by the forefather called "Loiyumba Shillon" is older than that of Megna Katha.
This makes Meetei community as one of the oldest communities of the world.
Naoriya Pullo, the man behind the revival of age old culture of Meetei was a very important person for the Meetei Community, she added.
Naokhamba, vice-president of MEELAL said in order to spread the ideology of Naoriya Phullo, there is a lot of research to be done.
To spread his ideology, MEELAL will spread his photograph to every school and other educational institutions, he assured.
Editor of Meetei Mayek edition of Hueiyen Lanpao, Shivdutt said the day on which Apokpa Marup was founded can be marked as the rejuvenation of Meetei Community.
As per the 2001 census report the head of people following Sanamahi religion was two lakh and this could be expected to increase at five lakh in the next count of 2011. He further said that in the effort to make of the lost history of Manipur in 1709, many criticisms from intellectual circles were faced.
Talking for disunity, while efforting to unite keeping aside the differences, should not be encouraged.
Criticizing each other in the public platform with destructive approaches will amount to hinder the process of development, he opined.
He further observed the need for keeping away far off from the intoxicated items from imitating western cultures.
Despite conserving owns' culture and tradition, there will have no meaning if people are addicted in intoxicated items.
Wangambi Leima observed that if Naoriya Pullo not efforted for the revival of the Meetei cultures, Meetei may still sleep.
So, Pullo is an important person for the Meetei Community.
