State Governor, Gurbachan Jagat today expressed his deep anguish and shocked at the untimely demise of Major L Jyotin in a powerful bomb blast that took place in Kabul on February 26 last.
The Governor visited the family of the major at Nambol Awang Leikai and offered condolences to the bereaved family members and consoled the family on their irreparable loss and mentioned that "god may give them strength to withstand the loss.
Lady Governor, Kiran Jagat accompanied the Governor in the visit.
The lifeless body of the Army major was brought to Imphal February 28 last.
Army here in Imphal bid farewell Sunday to the Army Major Laishram Jyotin of Army Medical Corps was among the nine Indians killed in the Kabul blast on last February 26. The lifeless body of the major, a resident of Nambol Awang Leikai in Bishenpur District, about 20 km from Imphal was transported by a special flight of the Indian Air Force to Imphal at 2.30 pm at Imphal Airport.
Maj Gen DS Hooda of 57 Mountain Division led the army officers and troops, who were present at the Imphal Airport to receive the dead body.
Columns of Assam Rifles, and Indian Army offered last gun salute to the lifeless body of the army officer covered by tri-colour Indian national flag.
The country has lost a brilliant Army officer who dedicated his service for the country and work tirelessly to serve the needy person as medical officer, not only for the country but abroad, Hooda said speaking while receiving the departed Army Major.
His demised is a great looser for country and his service as medical officer will remain unfilled forever.
He was well discipline officer and dedicated to his service, he reiterated.
Earlier, the body of the major which, flown to Imphal airport, was received by the relatives of the deceased from the airport, later, the dead body was taken to his native village, Nambol Awang Leikai and performed the last rites with state honour given by the Manipur police.
State police led by additional SP of Imphal west also arrived at the airport to receive the dead body of major.
They and the Army delivered the dead body upto the native village of the major where the last rite was performed latter in the afternoon with state honour.
Eldest of four siblings, two brothers and two sisters, was grought up his father, L Markando, a retired lower government official.
He obtained medical degree from the Regional Institute for Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal where he completed his MBBS.
He later acquired special training at the AIIMS, New Delhi.
He was recruited in the Army Medical Corp seven year back and was selected to work under the UN for assisting and providing medical aids to the war victims at Kabul, Afghanistan.
Ibeyaima Devi, the mother of deceased major who was among the family and relatives of the major cried sitting by the side of the coffin of her son's dead body and recalled her son's sweet words over phone from Kabul a day before he died and cried "who will fulfill my long cherish dream you have made up".
Maj Gen DS Hooda assured all kinds of assistance from the army side to the bereaved family when talked to the father of the major.
Manipuri Diaspora Association, NCT Delhi, expressed its deep grief and condolence on the killing of major Dr Laishram Jyotin Singh in the Taliban suicide attack in Kabul, Afghanistan on 26th February.
"His martyrdom shall always remain in the annals of the history of India" the association in an e-mail statement extending its heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family members of this young brave officer of the Army Medical Corps (AMC) of Indian Army stated.
