Imphal, March 05, 2010:
Taking part in the consideration of the motion of thanks for the President's address given in both Houses of the Parliament, MP Dr Thokchom Meinya has expressed appreciation of the ongoing effort of the Government of India to find a negotiated settlement of the vexed Naga NSCN (IM) issues at the earliest.
But the MP representing Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency asserted that the any settlement should not be at the cost of the territorial integrity of Manipur and other States.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Dr Meinya sought indulgence of the MPs so that the Women's Reservation Bill is passed unanimously when the bill is produced in the Rajya Sabha on March 8. He urged upon the Government to implement its zero tolerance policy against terrorism fully in spirit and action.
He further noted that the country's relation with Myanmar has been growing from strength to strength through India's Look East Policy.
