Mission Blind School launches indefinite hunger strike

Mission Blind School, Heikakpokpi authorities along with its Students' Union launched an indefinite hunger strike starting today demanding upgradation of the school to a full fledged educational institution, our correspondent reports.
Following a protest demonstration by the union, Tengnoupal MLA D Korungthang and Education Minister Okendro, on May 4, 2015, met representatives of the students' body wherein the Minister had assured immediate action on the issue, students' union secretary W Angkham Maring stated.
The union had however set a deadline of June 22 to meet their demands.
With no plausible steps taken up till date, the student union, along with school authorities today launched the indefinite hunger strike outside the school gate.
The protest would be withdrawn only after their demands are met, Angkham
stated.
