Pastor and student physically assaulted

In what could be termed as bullying the innocent a pastor and a student were physically assaulted by two suspected KRF cadres on Tuesday evening at around 5:30 pm in Motbung bazar.
The victims are identified as Pastor Th.Sho Ramai (35), s/o Thaikho, an Associate Pastor of Poumai Baptist Church, Senapati and his nephew R.Th.Hrangao (25), s/o Thohrii both hailing from Phuba Khuman Village.
They were heading towards Senapati from Imphal when the incident happened.
Th.Sho Ramai speaking to the media persons said that a vehicle was blowing horn and he signalled to slow down but the vehicle overtook and stopped to question and all of a sudden the accused started punching at the face.
Pastor was dragged into a hotel and his nephew was beaten up by another cadre.
The pastor also alleged that the KRF cadres were drunk and they even demanded a sum of Rs 3 lakhs and fifty thousand from him by falsely claiming that their vehicle was damaged.
With immediate intervention of womenfolk the situation subsided and one person who disclosed himself as PRO of KRF apologized on their behalf handing over a sum of Rs.1000 for medical treatment, he added.
Policemen from Saparmeina police station dropped the pastor and his nephew student at Kalapahar from where they reached Senapati where the first aid was given at District Hospital.
Meanwhile Sadar hills civil society organizations vehemently condemned the incident where the Pastor and his nephew were physical assaulted.
Sehjalien Gangte and Lamcha Chongloi, convener and convener secretary of the CSOs while strongly condemning the unfortunate incident appealed to organization not to repeat such atrocities
in future.
