35th death anniversary of Sanjay Gandhi observed

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) observed the 35th death anniversary of Sanjay Gandhi today morning at Congress Bhavan.
Deputy CM Gaikhangam along with the Council of Ministers, Congress MLAs and office bearers of MPCC offered floral tributes to the photo of the late Sanjay Gandhi.
Sanjay Gandhi died instantly in an air crash in 1980 near Safdarjung Airport in New Delhi.
It was recorded that Sanjay was flying a new aircraft of the Delhi Flying Club, and, while performing an aerobatics manoeuvre over his office, lost control and crashed.
Speaking at the function, the Dy CM stated that Sanjay Gandhi was a dynamic Congress leader who was farsighted in his approach.
A visionary, young and talented Congress leader, he led the country towards development through the younger generations of the country, added the Dy CM.
Reminiscing his deeds to make India an advanced Nation through population control which is still relevant today, added Gaikhangam.
Population control is one of the major factors for achieving development and he knew it even in those days, he added.
"His works towards saving the environment is a topic of debate today," stated the Dy CM.
Further he said that Sanjay worked to save the environment by curbing deforestation in the country and urged the people to start afforestation works.
Expressing regret on losing such a dynamic leader of the Congress party, Gaikhangam said, "Loss of such a visionary man is the loss of Congress party as well as the country" .
He later urged the people of Manipur to bring in work culture to produce more, control population explosion and save the ecology and environment with the observance of the 35th death anniversary of Sanjay Gandhi.
