Health Minister inaugurates workshop

A patient will recover faster if he/she is provided with neccesary health care by nurses, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing stated.
The Minister was addressing the inaugural event of National level workshop on 'Issues and public image of Nursing profession' at the conference hall of College of Nursing, Lamphel today.
The two-day workshop is being organised by College of Nursing, Medical Directorate.
Speaking as chief guest of the event, the Health Minister said nursing is one of the most important professions in health care sector.
A nurse must adopt the role of a care giver, a communicator and a teacher for both patients and their families.
The role of the nurse as caregivers could, if performed with dedication, help recover a patient physically and emotionally without the use of any medication.
The health sector would undergo visible change only when doctors and nurses work as a team, the Minister stated.
Health and Mission Director, SHMS Dr O Ibomcha Singh, Directorate of Ayush Director Dr K Lokendro, Joint Director of Nursing, Medical Directorate Vungzanem Valte, former Manipur Nursing Council Registrar Kh Bimola Devi and Manipur Nursing Council Registrar Kh Ratna Devi also attended the workshop.
