Imphal, June 23 2015 :
Congratulating all the newly elected Autonomous District Council members of the six ADCs of Manipur, the Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) has urged all members of all political parties to work in unison for the common causes of the tribal when the needs arise.
In a statement, TYCM said, "it is shocked to learn that the Congress Government of Manipur is playing delaying tactics in administering oaths to the newly elected Autonomous District Council members.
And, even after the declaration of results on June 10, the Government is yet to issue notifications in this regard.
As such, it is a sincere request from TYCM to the State Government to administer the oath at the earliest" .
Although it is mandatory for the Govt to publish the results of the ADC elections along with the names of elected members in the Manipur Gazette, the State Govt has failed to do the same so far, it said while asking the motive of the State Govt behind its failure to do so.
TYCM also appealed to the Hill Areas Committee members to intervene into the matter so that the ADCs are formed without any further delay.
The TYCM further urged the authority concerned to devolve powers to the ADCs so that they function effectively to the satisfaction of the hill people and the tribal communities living in the State enjoy the Constitutional rights and protection given to them through these ADCs.
Hill Areas Committee being the guardian of Autonomous District Councils has an obligatory responsibility in fulfilling the provisions of the Act, it added.
