The Election Department has taken up special measures in order to enable physically challenged and/or visually impaired persons cast votes in the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Chief Electoral Officer VK Dewangan told The Sangai Express that all polling stations would be mapped and physically challenged persons would be identified.
Ramps would be arranged for physically challenged persons and Braille ballot papers would be given to visually impaired voters.
Special arrangements are also being made to enable Leprosy patients, inmates of old age homes and blind homes cast their votes.
Renowned theatre director Ratan Thiyam, international footballer Rennedy and film actress L Tonthoi would be roped in to make the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaigns more successful.
