Imphal, September 22 2016:
Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) has submitted a memorandum to Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam requesting him to revise the minimum value of different categories of land and crops rate in the hill districts.
The memorandum said that there is a wide disparity in determining the minimum value of different categories of land in hill districts.
Stating that fixing land value at Rs 1 per square feet is too low and exploitive, Zeliangrong Baudi said that the rate needs to be revised to uphold the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 .
The memorandum further said that horticulture plant valuation of the areas affected by the construction works of railways, highways and other developmental works is also below par.
This rate must also be revised at the earliest, the memorandum demanded.
