Sadar Hills, September 22 2016:
Civil society organizations of Sadar Hills have expressed disappointment over the 24 hr bandh called by Liangmei Naga Council along Twilang (IT Road) area from yesterday midnight and termed it as ' ill-timed' .
Liangmei Naga Council imposed a 24 hour bandh along Twilang (Imphal-Tamenglong road) since yesterday midnight in protest against the alleged brutality of KRA-U towards innocent commuters on September 16 evening along the road.
CSOs Sadar Hills opined that Liangmei Naga Council should avoid resorting to such protest and added it would have been more positive if they [LNC] had waited for the CSOs of Sadar Hills to probe the matter and take initiative in resolving the issue amicably.
The CSOs said that Liangmei Naga Council officially informed about the September 16 incident and urged them to resolve the matter amicably but at the same time they [LNC] summoned the culprits to surrender before the LNC customary court within 3 days with harsh and unsociable words and ultimately called the 24 hrs bandh.
The CSOs Sadar Hills are disappointed for the Liangmei Naga Council ignored the official intimation and for disregarding the commitment of Sadar Hills CSOs to resolve the' issue peacefully while alleging that such intention and move of LNC would only invite communal misunderstanding among the two communities.
The Liangmei Naga Council will be solely held responsible for any unwanted incident arising out of the 24 hrs bandh, said the CSOs and added if LNC wants peaceful coexistence and harmony the door for negotiation should be kept open, it added.
