LNC bandh receives good response

The 24-hour IT Road bandh called by Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) received a good response with no vehicles plying along the road.
According to LNC sources, there was no untoward incident reported so far due to the bandh which began since September 21 midnight.
The decision to impose the bandh was taken in protest against the assault of 15 innocent people at Kangpokpi and also at Turibari near Kangpokpi on September 16 .
Meanwhile, the LNC said that since the culprits involved int he incident did not respond to the demand of the Langmai body a meeting will be held on friday (September 23) and thereafter, further course of action will be announced.
Mention may be made here that the Liangmai body had asked those people involved in the incident to surrender before the LNC customary court "within 3 days".
The deadline of the Liangmai body had expired on September 21 .
The victims hailing from Makui village and Niulong village were traveling home to cast their vote for the Wakotphai ADC by-election slated the next day when the incident happened.
According to LNC, the total number of 15 "innocent travellers" were dragged down from vehicles at IT Road petrol pump in Kangpokpi and also at Turibari and beaten up black and blue.
