Differently abled persons submit charter of demands

Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Manipur has submitted a charter of demands to Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Dr Kamlesh Kumar Pandey during his 3-day visit to the State.
The charter of demands included to fame State disabilities policy, implementation of 3 per cent reservation under Section 33 of Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 against the recent notification for the recruitment in Government Department including a number of posts reserved for
persons with disabilities and to ensure all backlog of vacancies to be filled.
It also demanded direct recruitment drive for clearing up the backlog of vacancies for persons with disabilities.
Urging to direct the State Government to launch public awareness campaign on the recruitment drive and 3 per cent reservation, it demanded all the Government Departments to comply with various orders passed by the State Government with respect to employment and recruitment processes.
The charter of demands included implementation of all , Central sponsored schemes in connection with the benefits for the persons with disabilities by the Department concerned and avail the schemes to all the organisation working for the welfare of the differently abled persons.
It further urged to ensure barrier free features in all the public buildings and places, issue disabilities certificate one week after the assessment, modify passenger vehicles in order to provide easy access to the differently abled persons and to instal auditory signals at every traffic point for the benefit of visually handicapped persons.
