Man found murdered

A Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in connection with the murder of a man on Imphal-Moreh highway in Chandel district last night has threatened to impose a 24-hour bandh on the highway on June 30 if the culprits are not arrested by June 29 .
KH Maring alias Heitlhungshel Khaling (56) s/o Shangba Khaling of Nungourok village in Chandel district was found murdered on the highway between Nungourok and Kanemram villages under Kakching Police Station at around 11.30 last night.
On receiving information of lying a body lying in the middle of the road, villagers of nearby villages went to spot and identified the deceased.
Later, the villagers informed Kakching Police Station about the incident.
At around 12 midnight, Kakching Police recovered the body and deposited it at JNIMS morgue for post mortem examination.
According to Shangamshel Khaling, the elder brother of the deceased, Heitlhungshel was an Ex-serviceman of 37 Assam Rifles.
He visited his daughter's place at Laimainai Chingjing near Pallel along with his wife.
From there, he went out alone on a bicycle without informing her wife.
And his wife returned home alone thinking her husband left her behind to watch World Cup match, Shangamshel said.
He added, "On receiving information of lying a dead body on the road with my brother not returning home, I went to the spot to check the the body and found my younger brother was lying in the middle of the road.
Blood stains were found a few metres away from the spot where his body was lying" .
