Dead body found, JAC warns NH-102 bandh

Imphal, June 27 2014 :
A dead body of a person later identified as KH Maring alias Heitlhungshel Khaling s/o Shangba Khaling of Nungourok Village in Chandel District who was a pensioner of 37th Assam Rifles was found along National Highway No.102 in between Nungourok Village and Kanemram Village under Kakching Police Station at around 11.30 last night.
Kakching Police recovered the body and deposited at JNIMS Imphal for post mortem.
Meanwhile, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of Heitlhungshel Khaling alias KH Maring was formed under the leadership of Tm.
Holkhokhai Haokip and Angdun Maring today.
Shangamshel Khaling, who is the elder brother of the deceased, narrated that KH Maring had gone to visit her daughter Pinky who is married and settled at Laimainai Chingjing near Pallel along with his wife.
From there, he went out alone on a bicycle without informing his wife who also returned home alone thinking her husband left her behind to watch World Cup match, he added.
"On receiving the report of a dead body lying on the road, I went to the spot to enquire and found my younger brother lying in the middle of the road facing downward and his slippers near him.
Blood strains were found a few metres away from the body", said the elder brother of the deceased.
While condemning the killing of Heithlungshel Khalhing, TM.
Holkhokhai Haokip, Chairman of the JAC said that every right thinking person should condemn such killing of
innocent persons.
Announcing the demands of the JAC to mediapersons, Haokip said that the government should book the culprit (s) involved in the crime on or before midnight of June 29, failing which the JAC will impose 24-hr bandh on National Highway No.102 Imphal-Moreh Road from June 30 .
The JAC will not accept the body till the culprits are booked, he made it clear, while demanding the State Government to provide an ex-gratia of Rs.10 lakhs to the deceased family members.
