Japanese film maker in town

A Japanese film maker has made a documentary on the life of one Japanese soldier who fought in the World War II in Imphal.
The documentary film will be presented at international film festivals after necessary editing, said Japanese film director cum producer Junichi Kajioka while addressing the media here in Imphal today.
Junichi Kajioka said after he had interviewed Masao Hirakudo Obe, a Japanese soldier in London an interest arose to make a documentary film based on the soldier's life.
Masao Hirakudo fought in the Battle of Imphal during World War 2 .
Junichi Kajioka said that the way Masao Obe narrated, Imphal was such a place of unique ambience.
"This interest in me had prompted me to visit Imphal earlier and I had visited Kanglatongbi (under Sadar Hills in Senapati district) and Sansad (in Ukhrul district)," stated Junichi Kajioka.
These are the places mentioned by Masao Hirakudo Obe.
However, due to financial constraint, Junichi Kajioka could not shoot the documentary film of the life of Masao Hirakudo Obe in Imphal.
"I shot the 30 minutes long film in London itself taking 6 days to complete," the Japanese film maker said.
Junichi however said that once his financial condition improves he will make a feature film on the life story of Masao Hirakudo Obe.
"The shooting will be done in Manipur," he added.
Meanwhile, a JAC has been formed in connection with the incident.
While strongly condemning the killing of Heithlungshel Khalhing, Tm Holkhokhai Haokip, Chairman of the JAC said that every right thinking person must condemn the cold blooded murder of an innocent person.
Demanding an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh from the Government the chairman said that Heithlungshel's body would not be claimed till the culprits are booked.
Meanwhile, also joining the press conference, Yumnam Rajeshwor, a member of the organising committee of the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Imphal (WWII) said on June 29 there will be a public interaction programme at Imphal Movie Club in Thangal bazar with Junichi Kajioka.
The documentary film on Japanese soldier Masao Hirakudo Obe will also be screen on the conclusion programme of the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Imphal (WWII) observation at Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) on June 28 .
Later, on June 29, the Japanese film maker will plant a flower-plant at Ima Keithel and Marjing Hill.
