TAKDO leads in condoling victims

The Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) has condoled all the victims of the tragic accident which took place at Tubung Longsai Part III, Noney district yesterday in which nine people including seven students of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, Yairipok were killed and many others sustained injuries.
A condolence meeting was held today at Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak community hall where members of TAKDO led by its patron MLA Kh Joykisan observed silence for one minute by holding candles in their hands in honour of the departed souls.
Conveying solidarity to all the bereaved families, Joykisan prayed that the departed souls may rest in peace.
The Moirang Lamkhai Youth Development Association (MLYDA) has also condoled all the victims of the tragic road accident by lighting lamps in front of their office this evening.
Members of MLYDA and Meira Paibis of Moirang Khoiru Leikai who took part in the condolence meeting also observed silence for a minute in honour of the departed souls.
Expressing deep shock and sorrow at the tragic accident which led to the loss of many precious lives, the Apunba Nupi Lup (ANUL), Bishnupur District has urged the State Government to construct/repair all major roads of the State to the level of standard highways/roads.
Speaking to media persons today, ANUL president Lourembam Pramo pointed out that Tongjei Maril road or Old Cachar Road on which the tragic accident took place is not only a historic road but also serves as a key link between different districts.
She then urged the Government to develop the road as a standard highway at the earliest.
Meanwhile, students, teachers and non-teaching staff of Kumbi College observed silence for one minute at their college today in honour of all the students and other individuals killed in the tragic accident.
