Many condole; concerts suspended

Imphal, December 22 2022:
Longsai Village Authority (LVA), Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK), All Manipur Sound Service Association (AMSSA), National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO) and All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) have condoled the death of seven students, a teacher and non-teaching staff of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, Yairipok at Longsai Part-III (Tubung) on Wednesday.
In a release, LVA chairman Kabidon Gonmei prayed to the Almighty God for giving strength and perseverance to all the family members to get through this difficult time of irreparable loss.
The VA also offered gratitude to CM N Biren for taking swift action and assisting in providing ambulance and announcing ex-gratia and commended the pro-active involvement of ministers Govindas Konthoujam, Dr S Ranjan, Th Basanta, Nungba MLA Dinganglung alias Dipu Gangmei, IGP Zone-I, police personnel, Indian Army, district administration Noney, CSOs and local villagers in the rescue operation.
In another joint release, AMMIK & AMSSA stated that a condolence meeting was held on Thursday in connection with the accident and resolve to cease all musical concerts and programmes to mourn the victims.
Meanwhile, AMRPSWA assistant secretary P Romen Singh announced to provide free education from class 1 to XII to siblings of the deceased students while NIPCO drew the attention of the government and authorities concerned for developing Old Cachar road (Tonjei Maril) at par with modern times to prevent such accident from happening in the future.
