Heartfelt condolences continue to pour in from all quarters over the tragic bus accident which occurred yesterday at Old Cachar Road, Tubung Longsai Part III, Noney district.
Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh has extended his deepest condolences on the demise of 9 persons and others injured in yesterday's unfortunate accident.
In a statement, Th Basanta Kumar Singh called this loss of precious lives 'a great loss for the State of Manipur' .
The Minister also extended his solidarity, love and sympathy to the bereaved families and relatives and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace while wishing for a speedy recovery to those injured.
Separately, Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) has expressed sorrow over the incident and shared the grief of the bereaved families and those injured.
Macha Leima (Manipur Chanura Leishem Marup) also joined in mourning the nine lives lost in the tragic accident, which included seven students, a teacher and a staff of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School, Yairipok Top Chingtha.
In order to avoid such horrific incidents from occurring in the future, Macha Leima drew the attention of the relevant authorities to look into the condition of roadways in the State.
Daniel Malangmei, president, BJP Tamenglong district and former ADC member, Tamenglong has condoled the victims of the ill-fated road accident on behalf of BJP, Tamenglong district and the local public of Longsai and Tubung village area.
Offering prayers for the departed souls to rest in peace, the BJP Tamenglong president also wished the injured victims a quick recovery.
Oinam Assembly Constituency MLA Irengbam Nalini Devi said she was saddened by the news of the tragic accident in her condolence message and shared grief of the families.
Womenfolk of Khwairamband Keithel and Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup organised candle light vigils at Khwairamband Keithel and Irabot Park Kakching respectively.
Condoling the victims, the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association has said that the association will be taking up efforts to provide free education from Class I to XII to surviving siblings of the deceased students.
United Committee Manipur members shared the grief and pain of the bereaved families and observed a two-minute silence and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
It also prayed for quick recovery of the injured.
The All Manipur Gorkha Ex-Servicemen (Defence & CAPF) Association in its condolence message said the members are ready to donate blood if required by the injured students and they can be contacted at mobile no 7014502621 .
Many other organisations including the Thoubal Ima, Langol Lukhoi Thang-Ta Sindam Sang, All Manipur Students Guardian Organisation, Socialist Students' Union of Manipur, National Identity Protection Council (NIPCO), Youth Development Committee Khoirom, The Manipur People's Party, Manipur Democratic Alliance, The Yairipok High School, Yairipok Thambalnu Shahitya Marup Cum Library, Sofia English School Thoubal, Singa Makha Leikai Welfare Club, Changamdabi Muhmmadan Club, Meetei Christian Churches Council, All India Students' Federation Manipur State Council, All India Trade Union Congress Manipur State Committee, All Manipur Progressive Students' Association, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) and United Association of Recognised Private Schools of Manipur also shared their grief.
