Poll preparedness underway

Preparations for the ensuing State Assembly elections 2022 are underway smoothly in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts under the overall supervision of District Election Officer/DC Pawan Yadav.
Political parties/representatives and intending candidates for the ensuing elections were briefed on various election related issues including Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and media related matters by officials and District Nodal Officers today at DC's Conference Hall here.
District Election Officer/DC Pawan Yadav briefed about Covid-19 protocols to be followed during electioneering and reminded the political parties and contesting candidates that no road show, vehicle rally/procession and physical rally of political parties/intending candidates or any other group related to election shall be allowed till January 15.Apart from dwelling on other Covid-19 guidelines, Pawan Yadav also said that political parties/ contesting candidates should apply for organising meeting/rally before 48 hours of the commencement of the meeting in the manner as prescribed by the ECI for obtaining due permission of the same from the DEO.
At the same time, as part of the series of activities for the smooth conduct of the election, the District Nodal Officers for MCC and ENCORE/SUVIDHA briefed the political parties and intending candidates on their respective area including awareness on C-Vigil.
Meanwhile, Nodal Officer for Media sensitized the media representatives and political parties about the functions of Media Certification and Monitoring Committee and other media related matters during election time.
Six Assembly Segments within Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts will go to the poll in the first phase on Feb 27.The total number of electors in these six ACs is 221362.Out of the six ACs, 58-Churachandpur AC has the highest number of electors with 64095 voters while 56-Thanlon with 17926 voters has the lowest number of elector.
The total number of Polling Stations within the two districts is 357 .
