AR celebrates National Youth Day

Under the theme "It's all in the mind", 44 Assam Rifles of 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) celebrated the National Youth Day by providing street lights to the youth of Khongjiron village, Tamenglong.
The street lights distributed to the youth are a small step towards empowerment of youth for a brighter and smarter future, an AR release said.
Commandant of 44 Assam Rifles, while opening the celebration through online mode, said, "The youth are the future of our country.
Because of their energy and progressive thoughts they are the beacons of change in the society.
Street lights shall not only illuminate the streets but shall enhance the ambiance around.
These shall contribute towards increased safety and provide comfort for people in the village" .
"Well-lit public spaces also provide pedestrians the much-needed sense of security to step out even after sunset.
These lights are a New Year gift to youth of the village who can now utilise light during the ongoing festivities in the village", the commandant further said, while urging the youth to constructively contribute towards the nation building process.
National Youth Day is celebrated to highlight the importance of youth who are the future of our nation.
It celebrates the ideas of how the youth can participate in the modern world while upholding their values.
Every year it is celebrated on January 12 to commemorate the-birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda who was a great thinker, philosopher and social reformer.
He professed constructive contribution of youth in the development of the nation, the AR release added.
