CM, others extend Imoinu, Gaan-Ngai greetings

Chief minister N Biren, Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Yumnam Khemchand, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken, United Committee Manipur (UCM); Kabui Union Manipur, International Peace & Social Advancement (IPSA) and Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) president Azang Rongmei have extended their greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious and joyous occasions of Ima Imoinu Iratpa and Gaan-Ngai which fall on January 14 and 15 respectively.
In his message, CM N Biren stated that Imoinu Iratpa is celebrated with traditional gaiety and religious fervour on the 12th day of Manipuri lunar calendar.
Seasonal fruits, vegetables and fish are offered to Ima Imoinu, the Goddess of wealth and prosperity, on this day to seek blessings for peace and prosperity in the coming year.
"I join the people of Manipur in the celebration of Ima Imoinu Iratpa.
May the festival bring peace, happiness and prosperity", he said.
In separate releases, the aforementioned political and civil society organisations wished that with the arrival of Ima Imoinu Iratpa and Gaan-Ngai people in the hills and valley live a healthy life, participate in each other's festivities and usher in unity, peace and prosperity for all.
Meanwhile, Kabui Union Manipur, in a release, urged the government authorities and CSOs to mention Gaan-Ngai festival of Kabui while extending their wishes and not to add any other community's name.
It also appealed to all to not call any bandh/blockade on the day of festival.
