Imphal, January 13 2022: A combined team of Imphal East commandos and a column of 15 and 16 Assam Rifles arrested four members of KCP (PWG) along with 32 demand letters last night from different locations.

Addressing the media today, SP Imphal East M Pradip said that the combined team launched a massive operation in Heingang area at around 5 pm in view of the upcoming State Assembly election.

Saying that one active member of KCP (PWG) - Wahengbam Ramananda @ Rousow @ Luwangamba (40), S/o (L) Biren of Kontha Ahallup Makha Leikai was arrested from Ahallup Makha Leikai at around 6.45 pm during the operation, the SP maintained that two more cadres of the outfit were arrested from the disclosure of Ramananda along with 32 demand letters.

The two cadres have been identified as Soibam Inao @ Bhim (31), S/o Sarat of Wangoi Laiphrakpam Mayai Leikai and Sapam Mohan @ Iboyaima (52) of Tentha Khunou Bazar and they were arrested from their respective houses, Pradip said and added that 30 demand letters of KCP (PWG) were seized from S Mohan alone.

The SP said that the team further arrested one more cadre of the outfit namely Md Ayub Khan @ Khan @ Ijou (46), S/o Alauddin of Lilong Dam Makha from his residence along with 240 WY tablets.

Stating that all the arrested cadres work under the s/s finance secretary of the outfit and have been extorting money from the public and private firms, the police officer continued that they (the arrested cadres) intimidated those who refused to fulfil their monetary demand by hurling hand grenades and planting explosives.

The SP further stated that the arrested persons are suspects of the recent bomb attack in Imphal East district.

A case has been registered against them at Heingang police station.
