NIA frames charges against Samarjit

In connection with the FIR registered for declaring independence of Manipur from India, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has framed charges against SALAI managing director Narengbam Samarjit while three individuals arrested in connection with the case have been discharged.
Investigating agency NIA framed charges against Narengbam Samarjit under Section 13 of UAP Act (inciting someone to unlawful activity) and Section 120 (b) of IPC (being part of criminal conspiracy) and submitted the same to the Special Court (NIA) Manipur Thursday.
The Court, however, discharged Elangbam Brojen-dro, 42 of Keishampat Elangbam Leikai, Narengbam Biswajit, 48 of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Akoijam Dipa Anand, who were arrested in connection with the case.
Fixing the next hearing of the case, the Court directed Narengbam Samarjit to appear before the Court on December 21.It may be mentioned that Narengbam Samarjit along with Yambem Biren had formed a 'de jure' Manipur Government on October 29, 2019 in London, UK after declaring Manipur's independence from India.
Narengbam Samarjit had proclaimed himself as a self-styled External Affairs and Defence Minister of the 'de jure' Manipur Government based in London and Yambem Biren
as Chief Minister.
