Imphal, September 06, 2013:
Refuting the charge leveled against him by the ZUF that he was punished for practising witchcraft/black magic, Nailin Kamei, chairman/khullakpa of Chingmei Kabui VA dismissed the charges as concocted, fabricated, misleading and false.
Nailin Kamei has in a statement clarified that he has no knowledge about the practice of black magic and witchcraft while also expressing his willingness to take any pledge and undergo any test and swear in the name of God to prove his innocence.
Futher stating that he was the attorney chairman of Chingmei Kabui village for the last 7 years, he said that one Gaisuamlung Kamei and his party challenged the attorney chairmanship with the intention to occupy the post of chairmanship.
In order to carry out their nefarious design, Gaisuamlung Kamei obtained the signature of Nailin's father, Gaidinlung and on that basis Gaisuamlung claimed the post of the Chairman, he said.
His father had appended his signature under duress, he was told.
In the backdrop of that incident, Gailin's father once again pledged before the Oath Commissioner in an affidavit affirming and confirming him (Gailin) as the attorney chairman of Chingmei Kabui village.
A Gazette dated April 5, 2013 that affirmed Gaidinlung Kamei as the chairman of Chingmei Kabui was also published.
On that capacity his father has appointed him as the attorney chairman, he stated.
Having failed to obtain the post of chairmanship, Gaisuamlung and his party started spreading rumours that Gailin was practising black magic, he said while adding that three associates of Gaisuamlung namely Kanamhoipou, Poulungai and Daikhampou had kidnapped him in the night of Nov 18, 2012 took him to a secluded place.
The trio physically assaulted him there and even threatened to kill him unless he confessed that he practised witchcraft which he resisted, Gailin said.
However, unable to withstand their pressure, he had to accede to their pressure.
When he was brought to a local court, Gailin offered to undergo any test to prove his innocence but that was stiffly refused.
Later the ZUF was fed with wrong information about Nailin and charged of having hands in the death of two persons, Nailin stated.
