Dimapur, September 06, 2013:
A team of 31 Assam Rifles and 23 Assam Rifles seized a huge consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives from Panso village in Tuensang district of Nagaland this morning.
Assam Rifles source said that based on a very specific intelligence input, the Assam Rifles troops apprehended a total of six persons including three suspected Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) cadres and a weapon dealer.
They recovered a total of 33 pistols, one bolt action rifle, one 12 bore gun, 1.25 kg gun powder, 17 rounds of ammunition and a large quantity of stores used for repair and manufacture of weapons.
"This recovery has been very significant especially because the location of the seizure is in close proximity of the Indo-Myanmar border.
Such a massive seizure of arms and ammunition is likely to expose certain groups involved in manufacture and illegal trans border movement of weapons and ammunition," the Assam Rifles source added.
