Imphal, December 18 2010:
All the 25 Semi Low Floor buses, provided to Manipur by Union Ministry of Urban Development for improvement of public transport system in Imphal, declared a Mission city by the Ministry, have been laying exposed to the vagaries of climate at Guwahati for the last 8 months due to apprehension over bringing them through Nagaland.
According to a reliable source, the buses provided by the Ministry have been supplied by Tata company.
The Tata company is responsible for bringing all the 25 buses upto Imphal.
However, the buses have been laying exposed to the vagaries of climate at Guwahati for the last 8 months.
Initially, delivery of the buses were delayed on account of onset of rainy season and the prevailing law and order situation.
Now officials of the company who are supposed to delivery them are apprehensive of possible interception by armed groups while bringing them along National Highway 39 through Nagaland.
Accordingly, the company has written to the State Government for a written notice to authenticate that the company is only supplying the buses.
It may be recalled here that an official team of the State Government have been sent for selection of the buses.
