The state is in a situation where the different groups become the enemy of one another, forgetting all the loving and historical relationship among themselves.
It is high time to identify those who spew communal venoms among the people and keep them out of the society, said Works Minister K Ranjit at the closing function of the 15th State Level Youth Festival organized by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports held at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium today.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjit said that, a few section of the soceity in the state are trying to destroy the aged old integrity and unity of the people of different communities.
Communalism has become a threat to the unity and territorial integrity of the state.
In such situation, the youth festival will give a platform to the youths of different communities from the different districts of the state in strengthening the unity and integrity.
When other countries are advancing in the race of development, the people of the state are criticizing each other.
This animosity among the communities delay in the development of the state.
In his speech as president of the funcion, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, N Biren said that government is planning to organize district level youth festivals in all the districts.
But incompletion of sports complexes in the districts has delayed in the organisation of these district level youth festivals.
From the next year, the youth award amount will be increased to Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 for first, second and third position holders respectively.
Biren further said that those times are gone when hill peoples are taken as untouchable with the emergence of Hinduism in the state.
Youths of hills and valleys should active and collective responsibility in bringing unity and integrity in the state.
Around 423 youths from different parts of the state participated in the state.
Commissioner, Youth Affairs and Sports, L Lakher said that those youths who stood first positions in different events will be selected to represent the state in the National Youth Festival which is to be held in Rajasthan from January 6 to 12 next year.
State youth award and district youth awards were distributed by YAS Minister N Biren in the closing function.
State Youth Award was given to Tongbram Romen Meetei of Takyel Khongban recognizing his dedicated works for the welfare of the youths of the state.
Sougaijam Sangita and Moirangthem Premiere of Jiribam were awarded the district youth award for their services in community welfare and health.
