Imphal, December 18 2010:
The State Minorities Commission observed the Minorities Day, 2010 at GM Hall, Imphal today.
Education Minister L Jayentakumar attended the function as chief guest.
In a speech, Jayentakumar said that the most valuable possession of a man is his right.
One may not like to live if they are deprived of their rights.
People of minority communities are backward from the general people.
That is why the government is making many policies for their welfare and development.
But not everyone can get the benefits of such policies if the policies are known to some persons only.
The policies of the government will become succeeded only when people of the minority communities are well aware of them.

Development means development of human resources in today's world.
If the minorities are still behind there will be no developed human resources among them.
So they should be well educated and bring forward to the world.
Discrimination based on religion should not be practiced in order to develop them.
There is no difference between two religions.
The best religion is universal brotherhood.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner, MOBC, JC Ramthanga said that the main theme to observe the day is to make aware the backward people of their rights and policies of the government which are meant only for them.
By knowing their rights and availing the facilities given to them by the government, they will come forward and make a developed and united society.
MLA, Md Helaluddin released the annual report and recommendation booklet of the Manipur State Minority Commission.
He also talks on the rights of the various minority groups of the state.

A documentary film named 'Minority marching ahead' was screened later.
