Imphal, December 18 2010:
The Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has convened a joint meeting with transporters and owners of passenger buses plying within Tamenglong district at 11 am of December 23 at Zeliangrong Building, Kakhulong, Imphal.
A press release issued by the ZYF informed that they had convened two similar meetings earlier but transporters and bus owners failed to turn up on both the occasions.
The joint meetings were convened to discuss public complaints about bus fares which were hiked double times during the economic blockade.
The public complaint during the blockade period was not attended by the ZYF thinking that the fares would be reduced to normal rates once the blockade was lifted.
However, the bus fares remain unchanged till date even after the economic blockade has been lifted months back and diesel fuel is available in adequate quantity.
It further asserted that charging exhorbitant bus fares even after diesel fuel is available at normal condition is tantamount to cheating and violating fundamental rights of passengers.
