UKLF celebrates Christmas

The Kuki army (United Kuki Liberation Front) celebrated Christmas at its general headquarters Nazareth Muvanphoi camp, Chandel district from December 24 to 26 with pomp and show where all the rank and files of the cadres took part.
This year the celebration was attended by not only cadres but all the family members which was the first of its kind in the history of Kuki revolutionary movement, conveyed a press release issued by the outfit.
Apart from Church services, other items like song competition among mothers and wives of cadres, Bible recitation competition among UKLF cadres, volleyball competition between mothers and girls and also between officers and non-officers of the cadres were also organised as part of the Christmas celebration.
Handsome prizes like cash and mobile handsets were given away to winners/winning teams by SS Haokip, Commander in Chief of the organisation and his wife Vahneilhing.
Conveying that it was very upset with the current turmoil, the UKLF appealed to all communities to shun violence and strive for peace and communal harmony.
The organisation also conducted its annual general assembly on December 27 and elected a set of new office bearers including JM Thadou (information and publicity secretary), Maj Joshua (external affairs secretary), Lt Col Kennedy (defence secretary) and Maj NC Baite (home secretary), it added.
