Tarung meet calls for peace

In the backdrop of the recent tension in the State, a public meeting attended by representatives of various communities was held to soothe the grim situation.
Organised jointly by Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee and Tarung Youth Club at Tarung Community Hall Imphal, many leaders who spoke on the occasion suggested peace strategies.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who attended the meeting, said that God's love and affection are boundless and borderless but the people make barriers.
He went on to say that if one's love does not cross beyond one's family or community then trouble is bound to happen.
Gaikhangam also pointed out that in a society misunderstanding will crop up from time to time.
So, we must learn to reconcile among ourselves.

Gaikhangam further said the valley people should have their concerns for the hill people and vice versa.
"If that is there, the problems will be less," he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that criminals should be treated as criminals and should not be attached with any community.
President of All Manipur Working Journalist Union (AMWJU) A Mobi advocated for the setting up of a peace committee in the state.
He observed that there have been trust deficit among various communities in Manipur.
"Because of this, the recent episode in the state capital was a result," the senior journalist pointed out and called upon all to thwart all evils together.
