Imphal, May 17 2023:
Maintaining that the attempt to disturb the terri-torial integrity of Manipur by demanding a separate home-land or administration for the Kukis based on false propagan-da should not be endorsed at any cost, Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Soci-ety (KIMACS) has urged the central and state governments to take up firm action against the So0 militants who have been defying ceasefire ground rules and resorting to killing of Meitei people and burning their houses.
In a release, KIMACS en-quired as to why the central para military forces and army companies which have been sent in the state to control the communal violence in the state are remaining silent when armed Kuki So0 militants are openly coming out and killing innocent people, burning hous-es, kidnapping and looting peo-ple of the Meitei community.
It further stated that some powerful people are articulating false propaganda that the rights of the Kuki people are being curtailed and that the commu-nal violence was perpetrated by the Meitei community.
The release stated that over 4 lakh refugees from across the border settling illegally in the state should not be accorded status of indigenous people.
The government should protect the reserved and protected forests as well as wild life sanctuaries in the hill areas.
Illegal encroach-ers in forests should be evicted along with destructing illegal poppy plantations in the hill areas.
KIMACS further appealed to all the indigenous commu-nities enlisted as Kuki to stand unitedly against the external aggressors.
