Imphal, May 17 2023:
While alleging that So0 militants are intentional-ly attacking innocent civilians in the wake of the commu-nal violence since the May 3 flare-up, Coordinating Com-mittee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and Kangleipak Kanba Lup (KKL) have urged the government to imme-diately withdraw from the suspension of operation (So0) agreement signed with Kuki armed outfits.
In separate statements, COCOMI and KKL expressed concern over series of attacks being carried out by So0 mil-itants against innocent civil-ians particularly in foothill villages for the past few days.
While the KKL statement said that So0 Kuki militants should be brought back to designated camps immedi-ately or else they should be declared unlawful organi-sations like other outlawed organisations of the state, COCOMI said intentional tar-geting of innocent civilians by Kuki militants is hindering efforts to bring back peace and normalcy.

Targeting of innocent ci-vilians by the Kuki militants aggravated the conflict situ-ation and hence all activities of So0 Kuki militants must be stopped immediately, it demanded and expressed hope that the government will accord importance to Committee's demand and translate the same into action.
On the other hand, the KKL said the conflict is not between the Kuki and the Meetei but between Ku - ki- Chin militants of Myan - marese origin on one side and the government on the other.
It then asked as to what the state government has been doing since outbreak of the communal clashes and why no proactive action has been initiated against Kuki mili-tants by para-,military forces in-spite of the fact that the militants are targeting inno-cent Meetei people.
The KKL also demanded exact data of arms and ammunition miss-ing from So0 camps and how many So0 camps have been investigated upon and verified till date.
It also alleged that RAF and CRPF airlifted into the state are being deployed in Imphal areas only and not in interior areas, which still remain as un-administered areas with no semblance of any administration be it police station or health centre.
While asking as to why the Kukis are afraid of house-to-house survey being initiated by the government to detect illegal immigrants, the KKL said it is wrong for the Kukis to think that reserved and protected forests areas be-long to them and do not come under the Indian Forest Act.
